Increase in Pre-Load Sales at Franchise New Car Dealerships Leads to Record Q2 Results with Operational Milestone Achievements


MURRIETA, CA -- (Marketwired) -- August 22, 2017 -- IGEN Networks Corporation (OTCQB: IGEN) (CSE: IGN), a Company that offers peace-of-mind to automotive consumers and their families through the protection and management of their mobile assets, is pleased to announce the filing of its second quarter Q2-2017 financials along with operational milestones completed in during the quarter. Over the last 14 months, IGEN’s wholly-owned subsidiary Nimbo Tracking has targeted new car franchise dealerships to include its product in every car that is delivered to the lot (The “Pre-Load” Model). This aftermarket product allows dealerships to identify and manage all vehicles in its inventory as the vehicles are sold through the dealership channel to the consumer.

Upon purchase of a new vehicle, the product is provisioned for the consumer offering smartphone accessibility to a broad range of programable real-time alerts including theft, break-in of the vehicle, location records, boundary alerts, driver behavior (speeding, rpm, hard-breaking), and even the health of a vehicle’s battery. These aftermarket services are sold as Stolen Vehicle Protection Plus (SVR+) as one to three years bundled services.

To date, Nimbo Tracking products and services ( www.nimbotracking.co  ) have been provisioned across most OEM brands that include imports like Honda, Toyota, Nissan; luxury brands that include Lexus, Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi, BMW; and domestic brands that include Chevrolet, General Motors, and Ford. Nimbo Tracking products are also compatible with all pre-owned vehicles regardless of year or brand.

Financial results and milestone achievements for the quarterly period ended June 30, 2017 include the following:

• In addition to Verizon, IGEN’s has initiated activations with Sprint to broaden its carrier base for large volume activations and airtime cost reductions.

• The Company continues to add pre-load new car dealership clients and is currently trial testing its products and software at several dealership groups across the US. Increased staffing announced earlier this year in California and the opening of a new sales office in Charlotte, NC is beginning to demonstrate progress.

• IGEN has formally launched product development programs that include upgrades to mobile apps along with further development of next generation services for the consumer automotive industry.

• Third-party developer MC3 was hired to further develop IGEN’s software platforms, effectively tripling product development resources for the company.

• Quarterly revenues were $398,123 compared to $178,087 for the same period last year representing a gain of 123.5%.

• Six-month revenues were $721,510 compared to $452,094 for the same period representing 63% growth for the first half of the fiscal year.

• Gross profit was $156,739 compared to $77,775 for the same period last year representing an improvement of 101.5%.

• Gross margins were 40% in the quarter, down slightly from 41% in the previous quarter but up from 34.5% for the previous fiscal year.

• Net loss was $126,716 (before employee stock options) compared to $211,803 for the same period last year representing an improvement of 59.8%.

• To reduce costs and streamline its financial reporting, IGEN has closed its Vancouver office and will shift financial duties to staff at its Murrieta, CA office.

Notable achievements for the quarterly period ended March 31, 2017 include the following:

- On January 17, 2017, IGEN announced a new nationwide marketing initiative for increased exposure of Nimbo Tracking's solutions through Verizon Wireless' B2B channels to automotive dealerships across the United States.
- On March 7, 2017, the Company announced receipt of new orders for its pre-loaded automotive dealership product and services, and expansion of Nimbo Tracking's sales force that includes increased staffing in California and the opening of a new sales office in Charlotte, NC.
- Quarterly revenues were $323,376, an improvement of 3% over the previous quarter and 18% increase from the same period in 2016. Gross profit of $133,567 was an improvement of 49% over the previous quarter.
- Gross margins were 41%, up from 29% in the previous quarter and 34.5% for all of 2016
- There was a net loss of $234,761, reflecting an 18% improvement over the previous quarter.

The new marketing initiative will introduce Nimbo Tracking and its new car franchise solutions to Verizon's national sales force that cover more than 12,000 franchise dealerships across the United States.

Nimbo Tracking offers a GPS solution and software application that allows car owners to track their vehicle in real time to safeguard against theft or improper use. Neil G. Chan, Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Chan is a career technologist who has pioneered the early adoption of disruptive technologies in more than 45 countries over the last 30 years. From start-up to $400M in annual revenues, Mr Chan has led and created the best-in-class sales, marketing, and service organizations during the development of wireless data infrastructure, mobile content, Software-as-a-Service for commercial fleets, and HFC broadband infrastructure. Mr Chan led the first technology transfer initiative between Canada and Mainland China on behalf of Spar Aerospace and Gandalf Technologies Inc., during the mid-1980s along with training, product marketing and sales responsibilities for growing Gandalf’s export markets; shortly after Mr Chan was recruited to Motorola Inc., to lead the product marketing of the industry’s first mobile data solutions for public safety, taxi, utility, and field service markets. Mr Chan led Motorola’s initiative to expand into public data networks throughout the Asia Pacific region during the 1990s and subsequently was promoted to Managing Director to lead the expansion of HFC data and voice broadband networks throughout the region. In the spring of 2000, Mr Chan joined Airvana Inc., to lead business development for the early adoption of CDMA-based broadband wireless networks which today continue to serve millions of users throughout North America and Latin America. Most recently, Mr Chan led worldwide sales and marketing of fleet management services for WebTech Wireless Inc., which contributed five years of record growth and industry leadership across government and transportation markets. Mr Chan has served on the Executive Review Board of Royal Roads University and continues to mentor and support early stage technology companies. Mr Chan is Chairman and CEO of the privately-held Gogiro Internet Group.

Richard Freeman, Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Freeman is a senior high-tech operations and product development executive with over 25 years experience managing leading-edge hardware and software communications solutions and services across a broad-range of technologies and international markets. Mr. Freeman’s career began with Mobile Data International where he spearhead adoption of early private wireless data networks for Taxi, Public Safety and Utility markets, overseeing 800Mhz radio Manufacturing Engineering, data terminal manufacturing, RF system design, and International sales support and system deployment. In the early 90’s, Mr. Freeman was responsible for technical sales support and system implementation for Motorola’s Wireless Data Group located in London and Paris. Mr. Freeman was instrumental in Motorola’s successful launch into European Taxi markets, along with the global launch of data infrastructure with the responsibility for product definition, marketing, and implementation of wireless data infrastructure based on Motorola DataTAC and ARDIS network solutions.

Mr. Freeman subsequently joined Sierra Wireless where he led definition, development, and successful deployment of many world-class leading edge CDPD, 1xRTT, GPRS, and EVDO wireless data modem hardware and enabling software solutions for international markets. In 2002 Mr. Freeman joined WebTech Wireless, where he defined target markets and requirements for mobile hardware and Fleet Management services. Promoted to VP Operations he oversaw the successful growth of the organization, supporting ongoing 60% annual growth in shipments and software-as-a-service revenues, a tripling of personnel, five-fold growth in corporate and manufacturing facilities and infrastructure, and the successful implementation of many multiple multi-million dollar projects.
Most recently Mr. Freeman was Sr. VP Operations and Product Management for Saturna Green Systems, focusing on developing embedded telematics solutions for the electric vehicle industry. Mr. Freeman holds a BaSC in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia.
